We may have to discuss certain things which is sometimes difficult in case the other person is far apart. Videos can be of great help to explain the topic in an easier manner. Especially, giving the demo of anything with the help of the video is much better option. Now, doing this manually is a cumbersome process. So, I tried to find a solution for the problem such that my system can solve all the problems itself. In the meanwhile, I came across the tool known as SMRecorder. The utility will help you to make the recording your system screen.

SMrecorder is a small freeware of 5.43 MB. It is a user friendly tool. You can record the entire screen or a certain part of the screen. To start with the recording, click on “New Recording Task” button.





A new dialog box will be displayed to specify with the type and settings of the video. First, select the capture type. The settings are divided in three parts: General, Video Settings and Audio Settings.

General: The capture size can be selected as Full Desktop or Desktop Region. For desktop region, you have to select the desired area. The best suited audio input will be selected by the freeware. You can change the input source. Select the location where you want to save the video. You can set the maximum duration or otherwise you can stop in between. Certain other settings can be selected as per the requirement.

Video Settings: Select the video settings tab. The compression quality can be changed with the help of the slider. Select Capture Frame Rate and Synchronization level from the drop down menu. Similarly select the other options.

Audio Settings: Select the audio settings tab. Select the recording volume. The sample frequency can be selected from the drop down menu. Also, the bits/ sample and channel can be selected from the drop down menu. You can create the delay between audio and video in seconds (to minutes) if required. Check box Record Audio to only record the video and not audio.

Similarly, there are different settings depending upon different capture types. After making all the settings, you can start the recording. You can click on pause in between. Or stop to finish the video. Click on the folder button to select the destination. Also, there is an option of Annotation Images which can be added when the video is in the pause mode. Click on the button, then Add Images. You can also select the transparency colors.

The freeware has been tested with Windows 7, and it is also compatible with Windows 2000/ XP/ 2003/ Vista and Server 2008.
