There are times when you may have bought a domain from google through google apps and but you are hosting files on a different party hosting server, in such case you will need to point your domain to the third party hosting DNS servers. Now for those who bough the domain with google, changing the DNS servers is some what a trick you will need to figure out, thankfully for some of our new project we figured it out, so today we will tell you in this article how to do it.
In order to edit the DNS server entries for a domain you have bought with google, you will first need to opt for google apps services, once you are subscribed for the google apps services login to google apps dashboard or control panel by typing the following link in the address bar and sign in your google apps account credentials.
https://www.google.com/a/cpanel/domain.com [append your domain name in this URL in place of domain.com ]
Now navigate to Google Apps Dashboard, click on Domain settings > Domain name > Advanced DNS Settings you should see the link to change advanced DNS settings which will allow you to change DNS server entries.

Note: Here is the trick, some google apps users might not see the advanced settings link shown in the image above, in such case you will need follow the method given below to see this link to directly access the credentials required to edit the DNS server by logging in the DNS console.
For Those Who Cant See The Advanced DNS Settings
If you purchased a domain while signing up for Google Apps, you can add services to your domain (such as email or web pages) without accessing your Advanced DNS settings. Instead, your services will be auto-configured in the control panel. Because you registered your domain with one of our registration partners, we’ll configure your DNS settings for you.
However, you will need to access your DNS settings for advanced management of your domain or if you need to contact your domain host.
To access your Advanced DNS settings, please follow these steps:
- Log in to your account at https://www.google.com/a/cpanel/your...ngsAdvancedDns. Be sure to replace ‘your_domain.com’ with your actual domain name.
- To make changes to your DNS settings, sign into your DNS console with the login information provided on this page.
Note: If you didn’t purchase a domain name while signing up for your Google Apps account, you won’t have Advanced DNS settings in your control panel.
Once you follow the above method, you will be directly taken to screen which will have login credentials and link to sign in to DNS Server settings console as you can see in the image below.

Once you sign in to DNS server console, by clicking the link Sign in to DNS console after entering your sign in name and password, you can change the DNS server settings as you can see in the image below which is an example for godaddy console.
